Meet the Instructor:
Alexis Colantuono
Welcome.
I'm so glad you're here.
✺ About me as a human:
My name is Alexis Colantuono (Collin-tow-no), some people call me Lex too. I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Columbus in 2022!
I love being outside - whether I'm hiking, relaxing in a hammock, working on my own practice or just enjoying the sunshine (I can’t get enough sunshine). My movement passions outside of yoga include learning aerial arts - Aerial Fabric has my heart, but I also enjoy lyra, pole, and have recently started exploring straps! Those moments of adventure, connection, exploration, and curiosity fill my cup just as much as time on my yoga mat.
Music is a huge part of my life, and if there's a good song playing, you'll probably catch me dancing or singing, or maybe even both. Whether I'm in my kitchen, my car, or anywhere in between - music has a way with my soul!
I'm also a huge animal lover, and my pets are family. If there's an animal nearby, chances are I've already stopped to say hello. Don’t let me near a farm, better yet if you have a local farm and ever need a hand, let’s talk? (lol)
I've been selling crystals for over six years and am excited to continue finding ways to share these gifts from earth with others. I love the stories, symbolism, and connection to nature they represent. Everyone connects with crystals differently and I love to hear stories of experiences others have - please feel free to share!
✺ About my practice/teaching:
The practice of yoga first found me during one of the darkest seasons of my life in 2015/2016. I never expected that stepping onto a yoga mat would become one of the greatest gifts I've ever given myself, or that would be the beginning of a new lifestyle.
Yoga doesn’t make life this perfect life, and it doesn’t erase the heavy or hard things. Instead, it has taught and continues to teach me how to slow down, breathe, and find joy in the little moments - in the present, especially in those that are most difficult. Even when life's greatest challenges feel heavy, my practice reminds me that there's still beauty to notice, still hope to hold onto, and still love kindness to share with the people around me.
Over the years, my yoga practice isn't about never falling away. There have been seasons when I've stepped away from the mat, but every time I find my way back, it feels like coming home. Returning to my practice is what gives me life, again and again. It reminds me who I am beneath the noise of everyday life and gives me the strength to keep moving forward with compassion, for myself and for others.
When I signed up for yoga teacher training, my greatest intention was to deepen my personal practice. I thought maybe I'd teach someday, but there was never a grand plan. Somewhere along the journey, something shifted. I realized this practice has given me so much that I can’t help but to share it. If someone is willing to listen, to breathe, or simply to try something new, I'm genuinely honored to offer that space.
My teaching isn't about achieving the "perfect" pose or having some “perfect practice”. It's about meeting you exactly where you are. Every body, every experience, and every journey is different, and I believe your practice should reflect that. Whether you're looking to build strength, reduce stress, reconnect with yourself, or simply create an hour or set time that's just for you, we can build a practice that supports your unique needs and goals.
My goal as a teacher isn't that you leave class or a session with the deepest stretch or the most beautiful pose, but that you leave feeling a little more connected to yourself than when you arrived. I invite you to notice joy in the little moments, even when life feels heavy and I invite that joy to naturally spill over, onto, and into the people around you. I truly believe this is how we create a more compassionate and loving world, not through perfection, but through presence. One breath, one practice, and one small act of kindness at a time.
Lastly, I want to thank you for being here. Whether this is your first time exploring yoga or you're returning to a practice you already love, I'm grateful our paths have crossed.
May you always find your way back to yourself, and may your practice help you discover joy in the little moments—even when life feels heavy.
With gratitude - I'll see you on the mat,
-☼-
